Driving by I noticed Sy Thai on Big Beaver Road and it looked appealing from the street so I decided to give it a try. The ambiance was modern but very solid, visually pleasing, and well done. They had a great sound system, excellent acoustics, and they happened to be playing some old standards. I thanked my server, Bentley (a very nice and efficient young man) for the selections and he gave credit to the manager who reads the room as to what genre of music to put on. It had been awhile since I had a Thai iced tea so I ordered one. It was accompanied by a delicious cabbage & noodle soup with some very light & colorful rice crackers. I ordered chicken pad se eew with broccoli which was available in whatever spice level I wanted. It was a large portion & done perfectly. I had a goodly portion left over which made for a great breakfast the next morning. It's my new favorite Thai restaurant and the only one I will go to when I'm in Troy, MI. I heartily recommend it!

Great food, amazing service, nice environment. I would highly suggest this business. It's not as spicy as most Thai places so a medium is like a mild

I came here with my coworkers today (five of us) and we had a great time! Staff were friendly and the service was quick! At our table we had chicken pad Thai, see iw, and then a basil fried rice. Everyone enjoyed their meals! I was able to get pictures of the chicken pad Thai and the see iw, but didn't get one of the basil fried rice. I did not hear what the soup was called but it was really good and came with our entrees. The restaurant was clean and welcoming, too. I would definitely come back!

One of the best Thai restaurants in Metro Detroit. Nice ambiance, great service, and terrific food. Reasonable prices! One of the only restaurants of its kind to feature beer, wine, and cocktails. Great location in Troy on Big Beaver close to I-75.

I have passed this place so many times and we finally found an occasion to visit. It was pretty enjoyable. The restaurant is fairly modern, and has a nice dining room. We started with the soup. Even though there were three of us they only have us two to go with the entrees. Most places give each diner a soup knowing that entrees are large and will be shared. It was cabbage soup. It was tasty, but unusual for me. I have never had this type of soup at a Thai place but it was good, nice tender cabbage. We tried the crispy shrimp appetizer. I enjoyed it, the shrimp was crispy and my child really loved their plum sauce a lot and would love to return and have more. We tried their Sy fried rice with curry and pineapple. It was a heaping portion and very delicious. I loved the cashews, tomatoes, and all of the items put in this rice. I would definitely order this dish again. I also tried their Thai iced tea. It was yummy and the glass latest me the entire meal, which is good. So their portion sizes, even for the drinks seem generous. We also got the Pad Thai. It was good. My husband did not like it as much as our usual places, maybe lacked a bit of flavor, and was not as warm as he would have like it. I would perhaps try a different noodle dish. The service was fine. The people were very friendly. The prices were okay, a bit more than some places, but I found the portions enough to feed three people and still have leftovers for a couple more meals. It was a nice night out.

The food is pretty solid but I have it a 4 star because the portions are really big! It's not the best tasting Thai food I've but it's still good and their portion sizes are consistently big especially their noodle dishes.
